Learning How to Ride a Horse

I was learning how to ride a brown horse. My teacher was a small blond girl who was very strong and taught me how to mount, dismount, turn the horse, and even how to speak to it calmly. As we were riding on a trail which followed the top of a ridge, I could hear an explosion and saw a mushroom cloud. Then we turned around and since she had worked hard, I offered to help her around the barn before I had to leave.
Any help is appreciated.
