Troubling dream

I had this dream the first time about a month ago.

In the dream, I killed a man in a different city and not wanting to be caught and go to prison for murder, I put his body in my car and drove to my home town. I think I shot the man, and I think it was an accident. I am not sure.

When I got home, I had to hide his body someplace so it wouldn't be found. I waited until the middle of the night then wrapped him up in several layers of black plastic trashbags secured with duct tape and took him down to my basement, where I stashed him in a closet on the far end of the basement. It is a closet that is rarely used - our controls for the underground sprinkler system are in there, but nothing else.

I knew I would have to get him out of the house but I didn't know how or where to take him. I was thinking about what to do and what would happen if the police found out about the killing - I would go to prison for the rest of my life, probably - and I started to panic. At this point I awoke but the dream was so real I began to think maybe I had actually done it. I know it sounds silly but I had to think really hard if I'd been to this other city recently or not. When I got up in the morning I actually checked the basement closet and my car to see if this man's body was there.

The troubling aspect of this dream is, aside from the thought of killing another human being, it is becoming a recurring dream. I have dreamed about hiding/disposing of the body and the consequences of getting caught several times since the initial dream. It is scaring me. I have never had a dream like this before, nor have I ever had a recurring dream.

I don't know if it helps, but I am going through a period of great financial difficulty and have a lot of stress in my life at the moment.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
