Default My Hero

Hello,
My name is Lin and November 8th 2005 I had a very good friend who was shot to death In Baqubah Iraq, His death made headlines because it was a member of our own troops who murdered him. He was as close to me as a person could be to another person. We were each others firsts, but down the line just real good friends. Right after he died I started having reoccuring dreams that come and go but it's been almost two years and havent changed. The dream starts for me looking for him, we always seem to be amungst other people. Sometimes we are in my highschool gymnasium and he's playing basketball (he was "6ft 7inches tall) some times we are at a party with all the people in highschool there. The most recent dream was scened in an army base, The setting changes but they are all basically the same In the dream we are Love intrests and I Know that Im dreaming so I desperately try and tell him of his demise. I plead with him not to join the army and tell him the blow by blow of his death. He seems unbothered by my statements and goes on. I wake with a sense of depression and I start the mourning process all over again. The latest dream I've had where we were in the army base I actually am there the few precious moments of his life, I see him getting in an argument with two other soldiers, Then we for some reason run and hide from them, But I lose him in the process and realize that I can't stop this from happening and keep hiding because I donn't want to see what is going to happen to him. the whole time I know Im dreaming and I just want to wake up. There have been times when I held on to dylan trying to tell myself to wake up so I could bring him back with me. I don't know what to think, My husband thinks Im crazy. But Ihavent healed or moved on from his death because of theese dreams. I cry all the time and I feel like im empty he was my friend my lover My Hero

well many people have dreams of other people because they represent certain themes. For instance your friend was possibly killed by people on his own side. So perhaps look for a similar but hopefully less extreme version of this theme. Perhaps you are searching and exploring certain ideas. Maybe you are worried that other people are conspiring against you in a similar way. That they are trying to defeat you or others and then will try to get away with it. They maybe are trying to blame you?

The dream need not be about you - if some other person features in your thoughts and their life features this theme then link the dream to that.

But many dreams do tend to link to the brain and how we store thoughts. So look for any incident from the previous day thjat features this sort of theme.

------------------
One way of telling how vital dreams are is to study people who are deprived of sleep and dreams.Sleep deprivation is very dangerous if it continues for extended periods. If you are deprived of sleep for several days then you will slip into madness. The reason for this is that sleep and dreams are linked to vital brain functions.

During the day we store up new thoughts and experiences within short term memory blocks. So if we are deprived sleep these become overloaded. The mind has no more space to store new feelings so these are merely forgotten.

During sleep vital brain waves emerge. Beta waves and theta waves are only ever detected within the brain at night. These help us process through those new feelings and experiences stored in short term memory. We integrate these new feelings into long term memory blocks. So if you do not sleep then you will not be updating your thoughts. You will not be building a bigger picture.

I Really don't think That my dreams are about me, In my dream I can see his face and hear his voice as if he were still alive, It's almost like he is trying to contact me. A person he trusted fully to let him know that he is dead, I know its sounds weird but in my dream I constantly tell him he's going to die or that he is already dead and he just dosn't believe me. I've only had the dream about being at the base once. I am a christian who normally has a black and white version about death but a part of me believes that he don't know he is dead and is looking for a trusted friend to tell him to move on. I just can't seem to in my dream I think subconsiously I don't want the dreams to stop It makes me feel still connected. Like I said before it only gets harder to miss him.
