Hi everyone I have been reading this forum for quite some time, which helped me understand my dreams much more. (so thanks to you all
I am still curious about what icons mean in dreams...
I had a dream about me seeing through an old person's eyes. He was in a mosque that felt as if it was a church, and at the end it didn't really represent a big difference. The church was all purple from the inside and had several sets of four squares (2black, 2 white like a chessboard) on the walls. So this person was standing at the entrance and like praying...and he had a silver bracelet in his hands and he closed the bracelet, so that it formed a complete circle.
He had taken two icons of Virgin Mary from the church. There was suddenly a young man beside him, maybe his student or so, because the older man showed the young one the icons - they were so Beautiful, old and covered with prescious stones of all colours... than the young man said something like - But there is now a thick fog outside...- The old man (still felt like I was him) covered himself with a dark green (i think) coat, he covered his head also , and said - Come on, we have work to do... and they left the church and into the fog...
This dream has been bothering me for quite a lot of time ...

Another dream with icons involved I had last night. It was night. I woke up in a little bus, my mom was there, but I soon left her to go see my deceased grand-grandmother. On the way I was scared and hurrying, and a man on the way told me in a nasty way "Hurry , hurry, make bigger steps". I ignored him, reached my grandma, then she took me to a little church and told me its story. I don't remember much, but she showed me books with illustrations and wisdom i guess. The last thing I saw was a picture of an icon, but the characters were female and looked very very old, which I understood as a sign of wisdom, but cannot really understand. They were in a composition like Virgin Mary holding Baby Jesus Christ. When I was ready to go back, my grandma told me she would come with me, cause it was dangerous and dark outside.
If it will help I am female, 22.

Hi. There were a couple of things about the first dream that sort of struck me. The black and white image of the checkerboard says something about seeing life in black and white. You are perhaps realizing that you cannot see things in black in white anymore. There may be a crisis in faith in which you must expand past a rigid doctrine no matter how beautiful or secure (icons of Mary) and see things for how they are. You must venture out into the fog -- into the unkown. This may have to do with a situation in your life or with your current religious beliefs.

Not knowing you personally, this could be off base...

Thanks so much for your interpretation It really hepls me a lot to better understand the dream. Yes, I've been kind of trying to escape the black-and-white way of thinking lately. As a had this dream some time ago, I now see the connection with going into the "unknown"(new university, studies in another foreign language, and reading more and more about religion).
I appreciate your help. Any other thoughts are welcome too
