Highschool is where, for many people, is where many determined how they will socially interact with others...have you matured since then? Or do you handle social situations the same as you did then? If so, your dreams are calling on you to be more mature and rational.
Highschool has been for others, a place where social interaction was traumatic, even abusive...you may have people in your life that remind you of the kind of people who hurt you in highschool. The important lesson to learn is to not judge people, they are, most likely, not the exact persons who hurt you then. It would be healthier for you emotionally not to hold a grudge. If you are looking for a specific class and not sure where it is or where to go, or you can't find your locker, or remember your locker combination...you lack guidence in your life. You don't know where are you supposed to be in your life right now, and you don't know the 'right combination' in life to create balance. You need sound advise, you need wisdom. The highschool lunchroom can often be how you feel...you feel left out socially, rushed, and unimportant. Or you are very popular, depending on weather if your lunch room experience was a bad one or a good one and how that experience made you feel. It may be the first day of school, and this represents the current chaotic state of your life. Taking an important test, or missing an inportant test, generally represents stress and pressure. You might be amazed how positive this dream experience can be if you decide not to be concerned about missing your test. You can also be fullfilling a fantasy or trying to go back and get everything right this time around, and you can also be revisiting your glory days. Question: How often do you dream of highschool?

I dream about high school a lot too. I'm 25 and I'm wondering if there's a time when we stop dreaming about high school so much, because that would be a relief for me. They are always nightmares, some adventure gone horribly wrong. My high school was also at my church, which was also a fairly traumatic place for me. Once I dreamed that it was an insane asylum for children, but instead of being a hospital we were abused. I tried to get as many people out of there as I could, but I got caught and locked up myself. At this point I thought I had woken up, but instead found myself locked up in a padded room. Over and over I tried to escape, each time just being locked into a smaller and smaller place, until I found myself (from a 3rd person viewpoint) locked in a straight-jacket rocking back and forth in the corner in a sort of comatose state.
So when do we stop dreaming about high school? |

That's a nasty dream, Katjapurrs. If I may submit an outside impression, it seems to me that the dream is emphasizing that a part of your experience in school/church was crazy-making. One of the more common factors behind "crazy-making" is verbal abuse, which is often so insidious that we don't realize it is occurring. Of course, once you identify the issue --whether verbal abuse or something else-- and grow to trust yourself and your instincts, the crazy-making is left behind. I found Patricia Evans' book, The Verbally Abusive Relationship, very useful when I had to work through a very long and dark experience along these lines.
Anyways, back to high school dreams: I have these dreams off and on as a 30-something attorney. They seem to tie into career-related stress usually. The first element of these dreams is that I have to go back to high school and finish one or two classes, then take the final(s); none of my subsequent degrees will be of use unless I pass the high school exam! Lately, I wake up with no idea if I passed or failed the dream tests, which reflects aptly upon confusion about my professional path in the waking world. Interestingly, my classic high school dreams are sometimes now set in the last semester of law school. Same idea though: I have to finish one last class and take one more test, as I have not "really" graduated. |

FS,
Whenever I dreamt of myself being in a school, it was an indicator as to my maturity spiritually in my spirit man, which is the Lord Jesus Christ in me the hope of glory. I started with elementary, then middle school, then high school, then college...which is where I am now. The Lord is quickly maturing His Manchild for leadership when the Judgments upon the Wicked begin in earnest (I believe this is only a few months away). West Coast of North America, prepare your hearts! |

Ha Ha... this is so me, and I'm 33.
In the last year, I've had at least one dream where I was walking around and couldn't find my class, and on top of that I was late. I didn't have my "schedule" (it was new semester or first day of classes or something) and didn't know where my locker was or the combination. I've also been naked in these situations too. Sounds like I'm falling apart! (I am) |

I've dreamed about my elementary school at least once..I loved my elementary school...I don't remember ever dreaming about high school, maybe that's because I've just zombied through high school with very few memories.
