Shady sun with a circle

What does a sun with a circle around it mean? It looked as if it were some magic spell... The sun was not as bright as usual either, it was as if everything, the whole surroundings, was covered by shadows. Nevertheless it was beautiful, although it seemed an unusual event it felt natural somehow... This one has me puzzled, so I would appreciate some help.

Hmm... It wasn´t really dark, only not bright... I don´t understand it yet, I think there has to be something more to it. But thank you for helping.
