Hi guys
I was wondering about the significance of the wristwatch... I noticed quite a lot of people see clocks and watches in their dreams. Most of the time numbers have a special significance. However, last night for example, I was looking for a wristwatch, trying to buy one, I was trying out different models and sizes, but didn't like them. Some of them were small, some were covering my entire wrist, some were covering my arm like a sleeve or something. I didn't pay attention to the specific time. I just wanted to make sure the numbers were big and visible enough. The shop assistant was very helpful and polite, but couldn't convince me either. So I left. I guess there is a connection between me driving a car and turning to another direction to reach the place I want to go and the wristwatch. Like trying to make a right choice. But I'm not sure. But also, someone I know dreamt they were changing their home and just leaving, they forgot their watch, but left anyhow. What could this mean? Oh, and I don't wear a watch... I am a punctual person, but don't really care about a watch as accessory. Maybe I should really get one :P Sweet dreams |

You answered my first question before I could ask it. When you say you are punctual that is good.
It leaves the other meaning wide open. The watch especially as depicted in your dream shows that time is important. Time is of the essence. The suggestion is, that it is time to go back and recoup or revisit an opportunity that you may have missed. In some way you have left and important meeting or event on the side of the road and you stand to miss out. The over sized watch that is on your arm and not just laying around etc. shows that what is being commented on effects you personally. Ask yourself what feels as if you have left it undone, unresolved, or perhaps you feel unprepared in some way. The indication is that it is very important that you take the time to address it. Now...dreams are scripted, cast and produced for the dreamer and not outsiders like me. For this reason the dream does not always indicate...hey sugardreams, this dream will be about this or that. The subconscious mind simply does not have to do that because it knows that you are aware of the goings on in your life already. Sometimes there are hints...perhaps going back to the other house is a hint...but there is not enough informational detail to allow me to nail the meaning of that part of the dream. So think back, about something that you are missing out on and revisit your opportunity to resolve that situation or to take advantage of it perhaps. Regards, sailrmc |

Thanks a lot, sailrmc
You are right when you say dreams are made for the dreamer and I am the final judge. It's just that when you dream every night it's sometimes difficult to draw the parallel between dreams and figure out their true message, unless there is somebody to talk to who can help you look at the dream from a different perspective. Your comments are precious. Thank you so much once again, I'll think about what you said and I'll let you know what happened. Sweet dreams and take care |

Exactly!
Actually, I find that interpreting my own dreams are most difficult. The reason for this, as I see it, is often the dreamer is so close to his or her own life that they often lack the objectivity required to see a meaning that is often sooo, in front of them. When I lack the ability to find meaning in my own dreams (to identify with certainty that the dream is about this or that), I step back a few steps, so to speak. I then go to the apparent symbolism that deals with the meaning (rather than looking at the architecture of the dream (that sort of lays out where the dream is coming from). This helps me symbolically, affix meaning (starting with universal dream meaning...see Edgar Cayce or Carl Jung on Google for more on universal symbolism). That step alone, helps me to get an idea as to the direction I need to look. From there I go forward. I recognize that unless a real life situation is being referenced in my dream than it is most likely that the dream story line being drawn is one that is parallel rather than about that specific event. My pattern of logic and placing meaning on difficult dreams of my own goes something like this...(in certain situations). Example... if I had a dream featuring a flying bear who jumped off of the handle or a frying pan, I first question my sanity and then I stop laughing and think...is this about some real event in my life? OK, I did see that bear on TV fall out of the tree last night...maybe it is about that? And how I feel about that? Then I think Ok my dream did not feature me watching the event just as is was portrayed on TV and so I go to universal dream symbolism as a basic meaning. I see that a bear in the context it was used in my dream would depict the fact that the bear represented mental demeanor that is unpredictable (could be warm and cuddly or fierce). I write that down, and look in my recent past...in real waking life, (usually the day or two before but not always that simple), and see that my emotions were somewhat unpredictable at that time. Just the day before I might have been in ultra stressful situations at work and my emotions were totally unpredictable. I tended to internally, fly off the handle at the least trigger. AND no I am not bipolar...this is just an example. Also keep in mind that dreams are often full of word play, and metaphor (that is a clue). Now if this were someone else dream, I believe that I would have recognized the symbolism immediately and not even wondered about applying it as I did. Dreams are often a combination of real events, universal symbolism and personally derived symbolism. This makes it a bit difficult for a complete stranger to precisely nail the intended meaning of your dream...without knowing anything about the dreamer or the goings on in their life. On the flip side, it also allows the dreamer to take someone elses interpretation and recognize from that interpretation, the intended meaning of the dream (even though the interpretation may have been off. The dreamer typically knows for certain when an interpretation is off. This too is of value... When all else fails, be confident that the subconscious mind often, rewrites (using different symbolism) future dreams, in hopes that the dreamer will "get it" if the dream is restated (so to speak). Thanks for your kind words, and keep on following your dreams. They are life changing! sailrmc |

Hey sailrmc,
hope you're doing well. I've been thinking about that dream for quite some time now... I was thinking about doing the same thing over and over again....just like the clock hands. I was doing that - my relationships and my job, it was all moving like the clock hands. There were people trying to convince me continuing that way was the right way to go. Just like the shop assistant. Always so sweet and polite. And of course, the situation was as comfortable as a sleeve-clock covering your hand and protecting you from danger. The other dream I mentioned - going in one way with my car and then turning around just to go where I actually wanted to go (which was unknown, but Wanted). The first place I was going was in fact an amusement park - and it brings again the same association of vanity and illusion. I believe that was what I didn't want in my dream. And I came to realize the same situation in reality. I am lucky to have the "choice" option in my life right now, so there is no notion of "escaping" the one or the other. And exactly as you mentioned in your post, it is really important to change ways. I believe I made some changes in my life already, I try to do what gives me pleasure and at the same time fear of a challenge, so let's wait and see what happens. Your interpretation gave me the sense of urgency to keep looking inside of me for the true message of the dream, whereas the turning hands hint hit me while I was listening to a rock star interview May you have the greatest dreams ![]() |
